External Fixator

The solid white vertical bits to the left are the external fixator.

The solid white horizontal lines are the pins from the fixator going into my femur.

The vertical white shading is my femur.

The two gaps are where the new bone is - as yet not solid enough to give an image of normal bone.

This is what it looked like from the outside!

As my leg stretched, so did the scars: 'skin releases' involved having incisions made for the pins to travel along.

Not quite Jansher Khan...
The rings are off, but the rail and pins are still there.

The fixator was in situ for 11 months. Finally taking it off was a DIY job - while Professor Saleh looks on.
